Free/NHS Addiction Treatment

The NHS might not be able to provide funding for private treatment- even if you are eligible. Regardless, this could be your only option if you can’t afford private treatment. The NHS also makes provision for free outpatient services and works in partnership with other local organisations to bring much-needed addiction treatment services and support to those who need them.

In order to access the services, you might want to visit your GP for an assessment. They can then refer you to a local community service, best suited to handle your case. Amongst the more commonly known charities and non-profit organisations are 12-step groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous. Such groups hold regular meetings across the country. They are free to attend and open to all who need support.

Addiction Support Groups

Support groups can help you make new friends and form meaningful relationships with people who have been through a similar experience to you. It can do wonders for the healing process and help keep you on track. Perhaps the most popular support groups in Oxfordshire are those like Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Drug Addicts Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous, which follow the 12-step approach pioneered by AA.

NA meetings

NA meetings are support group meetings organised by members of Narcotics Anonymous – a 12-step group comprising individuals who come together to help one another ‘stay clean’. All meetings are free to attend.

AA meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous is a non-profit organisation that pioneered the 12-step approach adopted by other support groups, such as Cocaine Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Like Narcotics Anonymous, the organisation has meetings across different locations in Oxfordshire, where men and women who have been struggling with alcoholism come together to help and support one another in their quest to maintain sobriety.
